Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Federation Limited, a unit of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, has awarded Amity Software Systems Limited the project to build an ERP system for 4 million sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh.
Amity Software is a prominent provider of customised ERP solutions that are suited for the agribusinesses and the sugarcane mills especially. Owing to the expertise and capability of the team at Amity to develop and deliver cutting edge software solutions, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to trust Amity for developing and deploying a completely customised ERP solution that will integrate over 50 sugar mills in the state of Uttar Pradesh and automate the entire Parchi Distribution System for the farmers.
Sugarcane farming industry provides employment to over a million people directly or indirectly besides contributing significantly to the national exchequer. The sugar factories, prior to planting of the sugarcane, conduct a survey of the total sugarcane area that is allotted to them. Based on the finding, the factory decides on the quantity of cane that every grower would supply. This supply quantity is distributed over the entire crushing season and accordingly, the factories issue supply tokens to the growers. These factories extend their arms in the form of collection centres where farmers submit their crop. These centres issue a slip (parchi) to the farmer which tells them when their cane will be weighed. The farmers harvest their cane one day prior to the date mentioned in the parchi so that the harvest remains fresh, retains its moisture content, and weighs more.
“Our team has always been passionate about creating cutting edge tools and hitting the bull’s eye when it comes to identifying the customer needs and creating software solutions for them and this project is just another milestone on that front,” says Anil Kumar, Managing Director, Amity Software. He commented further saying, “The Sugarcane Agriculture Management System by Amity is a loved product among the sugarcane farming community of Uttar Pradesh. The government knows our expertise and found us to be the best for implementing this project.”
The ERP system will automate and integrate the entire parchi generation and distribution system. Amity Software’s ERP will be adopted by the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Federation Limited, which is a unit of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. UPCFL, with this system, aims to establish an unbiased, non-favouring, and completely transparent parchi issuance system for the farmers where everyone gets the fair opportunity. After implementing the ERP, the collection centres for the sugarcane crop will be controlled and monitored by UPCFL instead of the sugar factories.
